The award goes to all musicians who share in the creation of a single jazz recording. The Best Improvised Jazz Solo category was renamed to Best Jazz Performance and the criteria was amended. Production, Engineering, Composition & Arrangement Latin, Global, African, Reggae & New Age, Ambient, Or ChantĬhildren's, Comedy, Audio Book Narration and Storytelling, Visual Media & Music Video/Film Jazz, Traditional Pop, Contemporary Instrumental & Musical Theater The number of Fields was consolidated from 26 genre Fields and the General Field to 11 genre Fields and the General Field.
The playing time eligibility for a nomination in Album Of The Year for featured artist (s), songwriters(s) of new material, producer(s), recording engineer(s), mixers(s) and mastering engineer(s) increased to 20 percent or greater playing time of the album. Producer Of The Year, Non-Classical and Songwriter Of The Year, Non-Classical were added to the General Field and the number of final nominees for each of these categories is five. The number of final nominees in the General Field was reduced from 10 to eight for Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Best New Artist.
